Johnny O'Connell trading in his Corvette for a flashy, pimpin, old man Caddy

When Mr. Johnny O announced he was leaving the keys to the 'vette behind to pursue a new career with the returning Cadillac racing team, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've really been praying that his new ride will be as bomb-tastic as the mighty C6R. Turns out, all my prayers were answered.

General Motors has told the public that an official debut for the new CTS-V coupe racer will be January 10 at the Detroit Auto Show but they also released these pics of the stunning SCCA killer.

The car is set to be captained by Johnny O'Connell and Andy Pilgram and will makes hit its first SCCA race March 25 in St. Petersburg, Florida. I'm excited to see how it flies on the track. To all of you who are reading this in Idaho/Utah/Arizona, you can see it in person at the SCCA World Challenge at Miller Motorsport Park, April 29-May 1. I know I'll be there.

The car was build by Pratt & Miller, the same people who brought you all the Compuware Corvette's. From a tech standpoint, the car seems to be drawing from all the newest Sports-car racing cues with a swan neck rear wing, massive NACA ducts for the rear wing and stuff like that. There is little for actual performance details for now but I'll keep y'all updated.
